Speaker Biography
Every comic can tell a joke, but Steve Patterson is a triple threat of funny, combining skills as a stand-up comedian with over 15 years of touring experience, a successful radio and tv host and a published humour writer.
Patterson began his full-time comedy career in 1997, shortly after ending his full-time career as a copywriter when he wrote an ad for an amusement park that his boss found a little “too amusing.” Leaving his desk job behind, he opted for the national and international stage. In addition to playing every major city in Canada (and most of the minor ones) he has also headlined in Ireland, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates leaving audiences everywhere united in their praise
In addition to general audiences, Patterson is also a host and speaker for private corporate events, counting major corporations such as the Canadian Olympic Committee, Coca-Cola Canada, PepsiCo, Best Buy, Future Shop, Investor’s Group, Manulife Financial, and Diageo Group (distributors of Guinness, Smirnoff and other beverages) to name a few. He is well sought after emcee for productions where top-notch stand-up comedy and the ability to deliver content is appreciated, including but not limited to: the Canadian Comedy Awards (2011); Industry gala nights for both the Geminis (2011) and Canadian Screen Awards (2013 & 2014); CBCs Short Film Face Off (2011-2015) and the Comic Vision Tour (2012 & 2014).
In 2013 Patterson won “Best Male Stand-up comedian” at the Canadian Comedy Awards for the 2nd time in the past 3 years (the first in the history of the awards to do so) and he was also nominated for the 2nd consecutive year in the “Comedy Person of the Year” category for his efforts to raise the profile of the Canadian comedy industry. Sadly though, Steve was shut out yet again in the female comedian category.
In 2014, Patterson continues rolling with another season of “The Debaters” on CBC Radio, more performances of his one man show “This Is Not Debatable” in theatres across Canada and hosted a pilot for HGTV Canada called “I Wrecked My House”. “This is Not Debatable” earned Patterson two 2015 Canadian Comedy Award nominations for Best One Person Show and Best Taped Live Performance. For his hosting duties on “I Wrecked My House” he garnered a 2015 Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Host in a Variety, Lifestyle, Reality/Competition, or Talk Program or Series and the show was picked up for 14 episodes which began airing in the spring of 2015 on HGTV Canada.
Award-winning, well-respected and painstakingly persistent in creating new material, Steve Patterson gives his very best to each audience he performs for.
