2016 NSBest Speaker Profile | Orlando Bowen

Our annual National Speakers Bureau’s Engage Speaker Talks (NSBest) is here! This year for the first time, we’re hosting events at three locations across Canada: Calgary (Sept. 9), Vancouver (Sept. 13), and Toronto (Sept. 27). Canada-IconOur 2016 theme is ‘Canada 150’, a topical theme for the upcoming year with event professionals looking for thought-leadership on their upcoming events. We will be focusing on the state of our nation at this important milestone. What makes Canada so unique?  What are the strong points? The places in need of improvement? What’s your outlook for what our Canadian future has in store? Today, our featured speaker is Orlando Bowen. He will act as MC for our NSBest Toronto showcase on Sept. 27. Orlando is the passionate Founder and Executive Director of the One Voice One Team youth leadership organization. He’s a former CFL linebacker who has taught racial sensitivity training to the Toronto Police. Orlando uses storytelling, fitness activities, and cognitive exercises to teach resilience, leadership, and teamwork to audiences around the world. His mission is to empower people to overcome adversity, find their passion and to use their gifts to serve. In this blog, Orlando shares his thoughts on Canada 150:   NSB-Divider

Tell us a bit about the work you do?

I empower people to find their passion & step into their greatness by shifting their mindset to look at how they can overcome challenges en route to achieving excellence.

What does Canada mean to you?

To me Canada means opportunity. It means possibility. For a lot of the folks that come to Canada, it’s a shift in perspective. There are many things that are available to people if they plug-in. If they surround themselves with the right people and commit themselves to excellence anything is possible. There are no limits.

What a changing Canada mean to the work you?

A changing Canada has real significance in the effort required to bring people together. We need to be able to bring together people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, perspectives so that we can all reach a new level of success and achieve our absolute best.
